One on one coaching

Looking fine on Sunday. Drowning by Monday.

I sit with men who are carrying something they cannot say out loud. No preaching. No pretending. Just the truth, and a way forward.

Twenty minutes. No cost. No pressure to carry on.

The real problem

Nobody is worried about you. That is the problem.

You are the strong one. You are the one people phone when it falls apart. You have carried other men through things that would have finished them.

So when it is your turn, there is no queue outside your door. There is a man in a car park doing sums before he walks in and smiles at everybody. There is a man who says blessed in the foyer and means barely. There is a man who has read the books, done the courses, listened to the podcasts, and still lies awake at half past one feeling behind every other man he knows.

You are not broken and you are not weak. You have just never had one room where you did not have to perform. That is the whole thing. That is what this is.

Am I the right man for you

This is for you if

If two of those landed, we should talk. If none of them did, I am probably not your man, and I will tell you that on the call rather than take your money.

What actually changes

You stop managing it and start moving.

Not motivation. Motivation is gone by Thursday. These are the things men tell me are different.

You say it out loud

The thing you have never told anybody gets said in a room where nothing bad happens afterwards. Most men have never had that once.

You stop performing

You put down the version of yourself you have been holding up for everybody. It is exhausting and it is costing you your family.

You know your next move

Not a ten year plan. One thing, this week, that you actually do. Then another. That is how men get out, and it is the only way I have seen it work.

How I work

I do not give advice. I ask until you hear your own answer.

Advice is what I would have done. It fits my life and not yours, and you drop it the first week it gets hard. The answer you find yourself is the one you keep. So I ask questions, and I do not fill the silence for you.

When a story of mine is useful, you get it at the end, as a light and never as a map.

1

A free call

Twenty minutes. You tell me what is going on. I tell you honestly whether I am the right man for it, and what it would cost if we carry on.

2

One session

Ninety minutes, just the two of us. Most men get further in that one conversation than in a year of turning it over alone at night.

3

Twelve weeks

Six sessions if you want to go further. Long enough for something to really change, short enough that you cannot hide inside it.

What I sound like

This is what I sent my own brother the day he was breaking.

Ek gaan nie preek en se hoe goed God is nie, maar ek vra wees mens. Huil as jy moet. Skreeu as jy moet. Vloek God as jy moet. Doen net dit wat jou beter gaan laat voel.

I am not going to preach and tell you how good God is. I am asking you to be human. Cry if you must. Scream if you must. Swear at God if you must. Just do the thing that is going to make you better.

That is not a slogan. That is how I talk to a man in pain, and it is exactly what you will get from me.

Who is talking to you

I am not asking you anything I have not answered myself.

Ricardo Zaal

I am Ricardo Zaal. I have pastored in Pretoria North for twenty six years, and I have spent twenty of those in business and corporate at the same time, so I know the week you are actually living.

On 10 July 2010 I lost my two sons, my mother and my stepfather. Two days. I know what it is to sit in a room full of people who love you and want every single one of them to leave.

I have been broke. I chased money for eighteen years believing it was the answer. I spent thousands on courses and coaches looking for the thing that would finally make me enough, and it was never in any of them. I have stood in a church foyer and told people I was blessed while I was working out how to get to month end.

So no, I am not going to preach at you, and I am not going to hand you a system. There is very little you can tell me that will shock me.

Be clear before you book

What this is, and what it is not.

Before you ask

The questions men actually ask me.

What does it cost?

We talk about the number on the call, once I know what you actually need, because a man who needs one conversation and a man who needs twelve weeks are not the same job. The call itself costs you nothing.

Are you going to preach at me?

No. I am a pastor and I am not hiding that, but this is not a sermon and you are not a project. If you want to pray, we pray. If you do not, we work anyway and I will not think less of you.

I am not really a church person. Does that count me out?

No. I have sat with men who were finished with church and men who never started. You do not have to believe anything to be taken seriously by me.

I do not have time for this.

You already spend more than ninety minutes a week turning it over at half past one in the morning. This is the same time, spent somewhere it actually moves.

Do we have to meet in person?

No. Most of it happens on a call, so it works wherever you are in the country. In person in Pretoria North if you would rather.

What if I break down?

Then you break down. It will not be the first time it has happened in front of me and I will not rush you through it. That is the whole point of having one room where you do not have to hold it together.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What you say to me stays with me.

Nothing changes on its own.

You already know that, because you have been waiting for it to lift by itself for a long time now. Twenty minutes, and you will know whether I am the right man for it.
